History is written as the Boogiezone Community Class
expands overseas to New Zealand
AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND (November 19, 2008) – Boogiezone does not stop. After recently launching a New Jersey operation this past September, a New Zealand connection is born.
Within the past four years, New Zealand has made a name for themselves. With teams actively competing in the international dance circuit at competitions such as Hip Hop International's Hip Hop World Championship (USA), FISAF European Championships, and Battlegrounds (Australia), it is clear that New Zealand’s hip hop dance scene has thrived. However, though in existance, a lingering hunger for Boogiezone Community Classes has always remained.
On April 24, 2008, this dance call for action was answered and together with New Zealand-based team/host, TRiPLe8FuNk, the first Boogiezone-New Zealand Community Class featuring D2XS’s Patrick Chen, Meredith Kerr, and Lee Daniels was held.
Scheduled to operate once a month, New Zealand is ready to hit the ground running. With five successful workshops already behind them, there is no doubt that their sixth installment – this time in collaboration with Street Dance New Zealand (SDNZ) and their renowned Dream 2008 program - will go off without a hitch.
Excited about the partnership is TRiPLe8FuNk, Director and Boogiezone-New Zealand, Host, Joel Gallarde. He explains, “SDNZ is one of the most prominent dance organizations in New Zealand and their Dream ’08 program brings together the dance community in one huge extravaganza.”
June 20, 2004 marked the first Boogiezone Community Class established at Focus Dance Center in Irvine, California. The Community Class program has since been implemented in 4 more locations with a regular operating schedule in; Alhambra, CA (Jayvee Dance Center) and Torrance, CA (Hype Studios), Roselle Park, New Jersey (Paragon Ballroom) and now – Auckland, New Zealand. A London location is currently being installed and should open officially soon.In addition, the traveling version of the class which features up to 3 choreographers in a 1 day or weekend format "The Boogiezone Community Class Connection" has already reached Vancouver, BC, Vancouver, WA, Bellevue, WA, Winnipeg, Manitoba, New York City, NY, Miami, FL, Orlando, FL, and Gainesville, FL.
Expanding on Boogiezone is Boogiezone.com Creator and Community Class CEO, Elm Pizarro: "I’m excited to reach yet another pivotal moment in Boogiezone history. Working with Triple8Funk in the past has always been a pleasure and now to have their support in establishing a class on the opposite side of the globe is mind boggling!”
Expressing his enthusiasm, Pizarro adds, “Along with Boogiezone-New Jersey, and hopefully London soon, we are all working towards uniting the global dance front. This is more than just a beginning, and I am excited to see what doors this opens for us next!"
With the philosophy to bring dancers together, the Boogiezone Community Class, a physical extension of Boogiezone.com – an online dance community, has developed a strong reputation for organizing some of the best workshops and master classes.
Unifying dancers in a positive, interactive, and fun learning environment packed together with quality dance training from local and top notch choreographers such as Teresa Espinosa, Marty Kudelka, Shaun Evaristo, and J.P. San Pedro is a mission of Boogiezone Community Class.
The next Boogiezone-New Zealand Community Classes, located at DZIAH Dance Academy (28/7 Love Grove Crescent, Otara), will take place from 12:30PM-5:30PM, with registration starting at 12PM on Sunday, November 23, 2008.
